All profits from the Fair go to grassroots projects in the Himalayan Region

Tibetan, Nepalese, Indian and Afghan communities work with the Himalayan Fair Committee to offer this annual outdoor celebration of Himalayan cultures. Supporters include the North Shattuck Merchants' Assn., East Bay Express, KPFA Free Speech Radio, The City of Berkeley, Downtown Berkeley Association, and The Monthly

Himalayan Fair Projects 2001 (and Earlier)

Proceeds from the Himalayan Fair are used to sponsor a variety of grass roots projects in Himalayan countries.  We investigate our projects carefully and make efforts to ensure the money is distributed in a correct manner.

Bir Sakiya Tibetan Monastery Support of small monastery near Dharamsala.
College Sponsorships   Fund for orphaned, disabled, or other Tibetan, Nepalese, and Indian students without financial resources seeking continued education. 
Fialkow Guide Fund  Support for the families of two Sherpas killed in an avalanche on a trek in Dolpo, Western Nepal when they accompanied an American couple from Seattle, the Fialkows, who were also killed.
Friends of Shanta  Bhawan Medical Clinic Free health care for poor residents in Kathmandu's Bodinath area.
Ganzi Kham Girl's  School Building of a girl's school in Eastern Tibet. 
Tibet Justice Center Monies to send representatives to the Women's Conference in Beijing.
Interplast Reconstructive surgery for Nepali children born with deformities, e.g., cleft palates, or who were burned or received crippling injuries. 
Kham Aid Foundation Four-year scholarships for 17 children in Kham Province, Tibet
KDTL Nunnery  School supplies and sponsorship for two child nuns in Nunnery, India near Dharamsala.
NCF Charitable Foundation Assistance to build a medical clinic and school for 100 children at the DrogShog School in Tibet's Kham region
Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation Services include children's group homes, day care for street sweeper's children, education, and medical care for Nepalese children.  This year's project provides schooling for girls in Dang Village, Nepal.

Sri Rama Orphanage School supplies for Indian orphanage. 

Tibet Child Nutrition  

Application research program dedicated to making a sustainable improvement in the nutritional health of Tibetan children in the Tibet autonomous Region.  Served 1900 children in first year.  Combines Western medicine with traditional Tibetan healing.

Trees for Life Gum-Tree planting environmental/nutrition project in India.
Yakti Nunnery   Housing for the elderly in Ganzi Kham Province, Tibet.  The first of it's type.
